[May 8, 2013] New Insurance Summary for 2013-14... We have just received our new schedule of insurance from the AOAO insurer, John H Connors Insurance. Many of you have been or will be receiving requests for this information from your mortgage lenders, and we have made it easy as can be to provide to them. Click here to open a pdf. of the insurance summary, or you can find that and more by clicking on the green tab above labeled "Insurance". That way you can print the form, email the link to your lender, or call them and tell them where on-line they can access the info the need. NOTE: Due to the number of water claims again this past year, the water deductible increased from $10,000 to $15,000. Owners are responsible to pay the deductible in claims involving their units, so be sure to update your Home Owners Insurance policy accordingly. Reminder, Home Owner policies (a.k.a. HO6 policies) are REQUIRED as of January of this year. If you don't have your policy in place already, and proof of insurance provided to the Kihei Shores office, please do so right away. [March 27, 2013] Goodbye to two tall trees... Our first quarter board meeting was held on Monday - March 25th at the Kihei Shore office. One of the items addressed in the meeting was the necessary removal of two large trees on property. One tree is the monkey pod adjacent to the BBQ area, whose roots are doing excessive damage to the parking lot on both sides. The second tree to be removed is the royal poinciana behind B bldg. that is causing damage to the neighboring rock wall, and whose roots are getting too close to the bldg and potential damage to water and drain lines. We will be replacing these grand beauties with more appropriate trees, so have no fear. For those of you who will lose your shade we appreciate your understanding of this necessary task. Owners: Did you know? Kihei Shores Owners are encouraged to request an Username & Password for our Owner section of this website, where you can access minutes from past meetings, financials, information on current Board projects, and more...Just call or email the Kihei Shores office to request your login info if you aren't already registered. On a more serious note... Recently an event at our neighboring property gave us a sobering reminder of how suddenly and unexpectedly disaster can strike. One of the third floor condos opposite our entry drive at Hale Kamaole became engulfed in flames Thursday night, in a fire that took over five hours for Maui Fire Department to fully extinguish. The unit is a total loss, and eight surrounding units suffered damage from flames, smoke and/or water as well. The estimated structural damage was $1.5 million, with lost contents an additional $120,000. While their AOAO insurance will cover the structural damage after the deductible, the cost for personal property and unit upgrades will fall to the owner of those condos affected by Thursday night's blaze. We are just so grateful that there was no wind that night, or it could have easily spread through the rest of their building, and potentially even beyond to one of ours. (You can view more photos of the fire and the aftermath on our Facebook page.) This is a great reminder for those of you who have not yet provided proof of your home owner's insurance (required with the passage of majority owner vote last year) to please do so right away. You can email, fax, or snail mail your current policy information to the Kihei Shores office, or request your insurance company to send us a copy for our records. This is no longer an optional coverage, but is required as a member of our AOAO.
